Raced a 2001 v6 Ranger Edge 5-speed, which I smoked by 1.5 seconds on the track.
Beat a bright yellow 2002 (no plates) Mitsubishi Lancer, which looks sort of sporty in stock trim(groud effects, exhaust, rims, & lowered). The owner also added a steel wing, which I thought was stupid. I crushed this one by a ton, too many car lengths to count. I guess he thought he purchased something fast since he initiated the race. I wonder what his girl said after he lost?
I also raced a Honda CRX, which didn't do much better than the above. The car was clean (everthing was black) and lowered but that didn't help him win.
A few weeks ago an F-150 Supercab and I had a go at it. The race is closer than I thought, which gave me a feeling he had the 5.4 v8 instead of the 4.6 liter. The truck was at my rear tire until about the 95 mph mark. From 95-105 mph I started to inch away. After hitting 105 I pulled on him good, putting about 1.5 lengths between us.
This is it for the past month or so, I try to save my racing for the track. My last lost was a while back to a v6 Mazda MX6 which had better top end pull. The car was modded real nice, the guy made some good choices for rims and visuals.

I have:
KN intake kit, QuickD TB, JBA headers, ASP crank pulley, electric fan, 180 t-stat, Hurst shifter, 3.55 gears, limited-slip, custom y-pipe, Carsounds cat, flowmaster exhaust, 2/3 drop kit, and a IAT controller (soon to be installed).
My next mod will either be the Nitrous Express kit, or cam, heads, manifold, and rocker work.

Have you ever tried autocrossing ? Autocrossing is sponsored by the Sports Car Club of America. You race in a large parking lot or race track. It takes a lot driving skill. Anybody can drive in a straight line. The best thing is it's legal. The web site is www.scca.org if you want more info. I race a stock Camaro Z28. Give autocrossing a try. You won't be sorry.

I haven't had the chance to autocross yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Gary Pinkley, a product engineer for Hotchkis Performance, autocrosses his dakota. Gary surprises the heck out of everyone there, usually because he beats all the vettes, stangs, porsches, etc. He also adds to the disbelief because his truck is a sixer!
