I was looking at your site, and it says that a bad belly pan gasket was causing a pinging sound. Was the pinging sound coming out of the exhaust? If so, then i think it is about time i replace mine. thanks.

No, it'll come from the ignition compartment. Pinging from the exhaust you say? I'd suspect the Catlytic convertor. When it's cold climb underneath and shake and/or tap on it, if it rattles, it's breaking up and gone bad on you. If thats the case, replacing it should give you better milage/power too!

You don't have a cat? Removed it, huh?

Hm.. pinging from the exhaust... could be spark knock I suppose, but that generally isn't that loud. Could your muffler be going bad?

I have a 93 dakota. It has a brand new exhaust on it. Flowmaster. No catalytic converter. It only makes the noise when i let off the gas. Especially if i dont press the clutch in.

Is it a ping or a pop? With out listening to it, I would say its exaust "pop". With as high flow exaust and no cat U would get a "poping" sound from the exaust on decelaration, wich would be a normal thing. I hope this helps.

It did it before i had a high flow exhaust on it. When i had a normal muffler. But the cat was hollow.
