Subject: Belly pan gasket substitute?
IP: Logged

Message:
I was just wondering, after reading another post about a possible leaking belly pan gasket...does anyone make a "better" belly pan replacement gasket? I mean, if the stock gaskets are so prone to leaking, why would we want to put the same thing back on? Does Fel-Pro or anyone else make a belly pan gasket that maybe has a better design or more durable materials, that might actually solve the blowout or leaking problem once and for all?

Fel-Pro makes a good gasket but I think it only comes in the overhaul gasket kit. Another option is replace the pan with a stronger unit. There is a stronger kit with hold down tabs like a valve cover to strengthen the factory belly pan. Myself, I went with 1/4" aluminum replacement pan offered from Speedtweaks. It just looked better, and the thick edge is bound to seal better. Mopar has a kit too, with replacement pan and improved gasket. I just liked the Idea of the thicker pan.

I thought most people just use rtv? KInd of like intake manifold gaskets, you can buy them but no one uses them because rtv seals a lot better.

Mopar has a completely new gasket. It is now metal instead of gasket material.
