I have a 91 dak with a recently rebuilt 3.9.We bored it out .030" and it turned out to be a pretty strong little engine after doing so,but I still want a v-8.I bought a wrecked 88' fifth ave. with a 318 and I want some opinions.Are they good engines,will i get the increase in power I'm looking for we do plan to bore it out as well.I guess I'm looking for some input on the power of the 318's what kind of horsepower am I looking at on a 1988 318?Just looking for some opinions and input.

for an 88 318, I would have to say you would be looking at 160-185 horses - if its in good shape.
Dont be afraid to give it a teardown - rebuild. Clean the heads up, rebuild the short, get a good intake / 4bbl., and some decent headers. That'll get you over 200, and you'll probably be happy with it. If you're really looking for decent power (and have the money), cam / rockers, better heads, better pistons.
