Subject: idle / fuel problem??
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm not sure what is wrong but my 97 Dakota it dies when I remove my foot from the accelerator. It does not idle. It would turn over once or twice before starting but as soon as i try to let it idle it dies. When it first went out on me the "check gages" light came on, now when it dies no light comes on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

IAC motor on the rear of your throttle body. You can get a new one at autozone for about 50 bucks.

I had the same thing happen on my 98 Sport. Turns out the battery was shot. Take the battery to AutoZone and have it tested. Cheaper then replacing the IAC. Besides, you can clean the IAC. I'd still try the battery first.

you can clean it, but if its bad cleaning it isnt
going to help, If it is the IAC, these symptoms
would not point towards a dirty one, rather one
that is completly bad.. It is worth checking it
out though before you go and buy another one
