let's say I have a 1999 Dakota with a flowmaster muffler on there, single inlet, and dual output. Let's also say, just for the hell of it, that there are no tailpipes after this exhaust. Do you think a dealership will still fix a bad catalytic converter under warranty?

Oh yea, let's also say, it's still under warranty, 80,000 and 8 years.

All help is appreciated... to whomever is asking....

typically what causes a cat to go bad is running the vehicle in a poor state of tune, puttin your foot on the floor constantly, or anything else that causes excess fuel to run through the motor and not get burned. the converter actually reburns any unburnt gas that gets through the motor(thereby reducing the hydrocarbons in the exhaust) and also converts some other bad pollutants to not so bad ones.
excess fuel getting through the motor overheats the converter, and it will melt down.

They will replace it no questions asked. They did the one in my old 97 with a gibson split rear.
