 Subject: egr valve smogpump

egr valve is bypassed and so is smog pump due to bearing issue with pump. my truck runs fine with maint. light on but when check engine comes on it runs terrible, misses, and the tranny seems to be pulling even when the brakes are pressed, causing them to lock up, but when the check engine light isn't on the truck runs like a new one. i just bought it a week ago, 88 se with 3.9. it use to have the push button 4 speed now has the 3spd auto. any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you for your time.
