My cat was rattling, and I went to a shop and
told them to fix it the cheapest way possible and they ended up cutting my off, but also in my state there is no inspections.

Well there are 3 things you can do.
1. Take it to the dealer and have them replace it under warranty. I beleave the Cat is covered for 100,000 miles or 10 years.
2. Get it cut off. But this will not help you with the inspection.
3. Do like I did and put a High-Flow Cat from Summit or JC-Whitney with your choice of muffler-Dual or Single outlet's and take it to a Muffler Shop to have it all put on.

just FYI, I wouldn't wait around, either...mine was rattling but I let it go a month or so, and then I was entering the freeway and next thing I know...puke...complete loss of power and damn near got killed. had to tow it in because it was all blocked up. dealer paid everything, even rental car to fix it.

Well it was a couple of years ago.
I think the High-Flow Cat was about $170.00
I got the Flowmaster 50 Single in Dual out and to be honest I don't remember how much that was.
Then I had to have the Dual's custom installed from the Muffler back and that ended up being $200.00 at the local muffler shop.

So if you go with a single it should be cheaper.

I know what you mean. I have had my cat replaced three times and it is a pain to have it done. It only takes a day for them to do it and the warrenty I think is only for 80000 miles but if you have the money to spend on a flow through cat then buy it. I have a 98 CC 3.9 and it is a very annoying sound. The dealer never told me why it has gone bad but they would just fix it. If it is free then get it done. Anyways thats my two cents
