This is kinda wierd...

My Dak is acting like it's carburated, not fuel injected. If you nail it, it takes almost a second for it to 'go'. I'm going to replace the plugs and check the Belly Pain Gasket (Not using oil, but...) this weekend when I put the Power Pully on, but was wondering if there was anything else you guys could suggest I check?

My truck has just started doing it... so it's mildly annoying. It's also slow to build to about 2000 RPM all of a sudden, and the idle is real rough. I'm thinking i have a Vacuum leak somewhere, or a bad plug... Maybe it's the fuel injectors, then I'd have an excuse to replace them with some FMS 21s. :)

Wow LIBlackdak, thats real intelligent there. If you don't have anything constructive to add, why don't you go find something else to do?

For a leaking belly pan, look down through the throttle body with the throttle wide open. If you can see oil film at the bottom, the plenum is leaking. A bad throttle position sensor will do it too.

Yeah, I know the TB trick. But thanks. :0) With my C++ Final coming up (Tomarrow? TOMARROW? ACK!) I've been kind of busy. But I'll check it this weekend when I change the plugs and do the ASP underdrive pully I just recieved.

I dunno if a PCM will flag the TPS if it's bad, because it might think it's getting an accurate signal. Depends on how bad it is. If I change the plugs, and the Bellypan looks good, I'll see if I can get a TPS sensor for it and give that a shot. They are what, $15?

I have been battling a similar problem for months. I do have to do the bellypan soon AGAIN.
I thought TPS was about $50 so I have been dragging my feet on it. Although when I plug the laptop into it and slowly move the throttle pedal to the floor, the numbers seem to be smooth and linear. But after checking other sensors I keep coming back to the TPS.

just to let you know looking down the tb and seeing oil doesnt always mean that your belly pan gasket has gone. Oil can get into the intake manifold from the passenger side pcv valve.... especially if you removed your valve cover baffles for 1.7 rr (me).

edelbrock intake, modified manifold, headers, flowmaster, 24lb injectors, mp throttle body, 1.7 rr, msd 6a, msd wires, blaster 3, b&m shifter, shift kit, coilovers, drag shocks, ladderbars, panhard bar, 150# coils, electric fan, oil cooler, 180 thermostat, autolite 3923, corbeau seats, slicks, mojo

I'm going to disconnect the pvc from the manifold and hook up a "Breather box" VW has bin doing it for years. It's just a box that has a filter in it and a return line to the case. I thought I have had a different sinereo with being blown but to many responses telling me it's normal. I got to know.

eyetrip, why not just get the 2bbl M? hell just the fact that it gets rid of the bellypan gasket is worth the bucks!

Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown.

Eyetrip,

Have you looked into those Plenum Gasket reinforcement kits? I think Bernd sells a kit... they seem like a no-brainer idea now that I look at them. The seals blow because the bolts are too far spaced, the kit just offers some reinforcement along those lines. If mine's blown I might go ahead and get one of those put on.

Got my Serpentine belt today! Gonna do the Underdrive pully and plugs if it doesn't rain tomarrow, I'll check the gasket then :)

Yeah I am going to get a thicker plate for the belly pan. But I want to keep the keg, just matchport and chop some runner.

My goal is to get as fast as posible and still pass emissions. Sounds crazy doesn't it.

Eye trip, im sure the M1 will pass smog at the pipe. the visual is another story, but the techs might not notice it.

if worst comes to worst, just put the stocker back on when its time to test. you will LOVE the differance, expecially with the blower!

a guy on the delphi board did a comparison with a 2bbl M1, 4bbl M1, and a modified stocker. the 2bbl came out on top, the the 4bbl, and last the stocker.

just something to think about

I have a slow oil leak maybe a quart every 2000 miles. on the drivers side of the intake manifold there seems to be an oil stain from the middle to the rear of the manifold. Also when I start the engine warm it sometimes takes the oil pressure gauge around 5-10 seconds to come up. Could this be a leaking belly pan gasket problem? As far as hesitation the truck takes off there is no loss of power anywhere Still runs like it is new.

Thanks

Joe
