Would getting a whole new rear end from a junk yard or something be easier than changing just the ring and pinion? Also would having a different gear effect what you speedometer says or any thing else like that? All help is appreciated!

Yes usually it would be easier to swap the whole axle, but it would be hard to find the one you want. And yes the speedo would have to be recalibrated any time you change tranny gears, rear end gears, or tire size.

Jon,
I haven't put to many rearends in trucks but i can imagine it being harder than replacing the ring and pinion. Our trucks should have roughly the same design as a Grand Cherokee and i've done a coulple of those as a mechanic's helper about a year ago, and they weren't nothing to worry about.

Gooberlog,

So it is fairly easy? Do you need any special tools other than a torque wrench? I would be interested in the swap to 4.11's.

Thanks.
