 Subject: 87 4x4 gears

i've got an 87 4x4 and when im on the highway it revs really high. we're talkin 3000rmp at 60 mph. what kind of gears do you think is in this thing.

something is wrong
have you changed the tenny oil lately? if a shop does it usualy they will adjust the kickdown bands and stuff, that helped mine alot, maybe its not going into overdrive, sounds like mine when its in 3rd or when i have the OD off

3 grand at 60. Sounds like you probaly have 3.55 depending on the size of the tire. I have a 78 Lil Red Express with 55's with a 275/60 (about a 28 inch tall tire)and runs a shade under 3 at 60, no overdrive. My 88 Dak cruises about 70 and it's still under 3 with 2.94 and and 255/60 (about a 27 inch tall tire)and no overdrive. Hope this helps. Jim
