I want to start doing the some of my own maintenance, but I'm a newbie. Is there another place to get a shop manual besides going through a dealership? It seems the dealership would be the most expensive place to get one.

What kind of maintance?

I know Haynes made a manual for the 96-99 Daks, I have it. Besides some -minor- differences (unless you talking about dashboard wiring, in which case the 2000 is a whole new animal), the engine and drive train are pretty much the same.

If your talking spark plugs, plug wires, cap/rotor, and stuff like that? You should be fine even if you don't have a manual as long as you have a little experiance with engines. Othewise, the Haynes manual can point you in the right direction (a few things will be in different locals, but overall it's the same).
