Has anyone removed the catalyst from their cat. Going to install a Dynomax 17748 today and wanted to empty it. I live in WV and have no emmisions test yet.

I bought my truck used off of a friend, and he removed the catalyst himself. I think it is a lot easier to just cut it off and put some straight pipe on. I noticed when letting of the gas at high rpm's, it make an obnoxious gargling sound.

I finished it yesterday. Removed the catalyst and your right Neil, it makes a gargling sound. The Dynomax sounds good.

I just took my cat off, and replaced it with the straight pipe. The gargling sound is gone, and it runs A LOT smoother. You should try this 94DaksIt.

Neil, It sounds alot better. I had a ringing noise with the cat housing. also my idle has smoothed out. Should-of just cut out the cat and put in a straight pipe.

Well I had them remove my cat on my COUGH s-10 COUGH, and then just clamp up a stright pipe. Then I just went home and changed the muffler my self. I think the final price was like $42.00
