I am thinking that an easy way to gain some performance for my 3.9 would be to change out the rear end gears. What is the highest you recommend? As long as I can run 70-75 down the highway under 3200-3300 RPM, it is fine with me.

I have no idea what is stock in the truck. Maybe 3.55's. I am thinking about putting 4.10's in it. Is it a tough job? Me and my dad changed out one before a couple of years ago, but I barely remember. I am on my own on this one.

I just want to be able to hit the gas and make the tires spin.

I appreciate it.

Going to a limited slip rear will make it harder for your tires to break loose, if you do go L/S you will need a pretty low gearset.

I dont recomend 4.10's (I have 4.10's now) if you do alot of 70-75. It will tac around or under what you want but doing that alot will be hard on gas miliage and harder on your engine.
If you have 3.5 open rear now and you cannot break a tire loose than I doubt very seriously you will be able to break em loose with L/S 3.9 gearset.

Easy but pretty expensive is a L/S rear from a junkyard already setup, Ive seen em for 700 and up. Cheaper would be a TracLok and gears installed in your rear, that takes alot more work and some tools and skills you may not have.

Hope this helped. Scott

Hey,

I very rarely do 70-75 down the highway. 80% of my driving time is spent going around town. Why do I have to get limited slip? I figured I could just get some Richmond 4.11's and stick it in there. Or, do I already have a limited slip. Sorry, still new.

Email me at bigv113@hotmail.com if you can

Any power adders will need better traction.

If you can spin one tire with 3.5 and you add 4.1, if you add any power you will have ZERO traction with 4.1 open rear.

IntenseDak3.9 and I found that out, we both have pretty decent runnin 3.9 Daks both with 3.5 open rears (not me anylonger, :-D) I can tell you you cannot get any power down with open rear.
Intense told us that he spun halfway down the track and that was with drag tires!!

Do yourself a favor, if your going into the rear put L/S in before anything if you plan on raising the power output of your Dak.

but my truck is also a lot lighter than most on the back end....

i have removed the bumper, spare tire, spare tire assembly, heat shields, parts of frame, hole in the bed (about 40lbs of a hole!), and only have a tailgate skin.

i ran a 8.95 on that run that i did that (1/8th mile)... if i had a good limited slip i would have scored a low 8 time... add fazdaks 4.10 gears and i coulda, woulda, shoulda seen some 7 second 1/8ths

Nice to hear form you again dude.

Glad you got her together and happy with it.

Dont do bottle buddie, you know thats not your way. :-D. lol

Actually do it, you wont want to get out of your Dak after that!!

I have 125 shot in it now and very lean, I am tryin my best to blow the V6 so I have a good excuse to get a V8 in her.
Damn these are tough little engines!!

I raced a totally riced out Eclipse GSX last night and except for not hardly being able to control the fish tailing I spanked him pretty bad.
He even had some kinda HP blowoff valve cause I could hear the damn thing over mu tire squeeling!!
Scared me at first, I though I blew a damn tire!! lol

I got a few bugs to work out and we need to meet up at MIR, you still wanna go? do they still have Fri night "run whatcha brung"?

Take care, Scott

Thx FlameRed.
I am probably gonna have to start opening the hood to get any money out of em.
I talked to a few Rice Boyz at a local cruz the other night and they already heard I had a V8!! can you believe that? I was soooo pissed!! I told em I havent put a V8 in it just to make it fair.
They still gave me crap but I told em for the right amount of money I WOULD open the hood after a race.
Of course they wanted it opened before, I simply said "Now thats not very sporting of you" lol.

Scott
