Subject: v8 tb swap question

Message:
i have read the posts about the v6-v8 tb swap. i am planning to do this but i just read that the holes on the v8 tb are bigger than the holes on the intake manifold. is this true for all model daks or just the older ones. i have a 97 and planning to get a tb from a 99. also, if the holes are bigger on the tb, how will this affect my performance. will i still get hp out of it or not? thanks for all the help!

I actually asked a similar question earlier and I am concerned with the port size on the intake manifold. By adding a larger V8 TB with ports that don't match those on the intake manifold it would seem to me that it would actually cause more harm than help. I believe it would create a much more turbulent air flow and thus negate any benefits. Could be wrong but that's how I'm seeing it. To get 100% benefit you would definitely have to match the ports for positive air flow.

You have to make sure you get a throttle body that is 48mm. If you get a 52+ your getting to much air, plus the holes on the intake arnt big enough. Raven, take a tape measure and see what size yours are. 48mm=1.90, 52mm=2.06. Yes this increases performance, thats why its done. And supp 97-2000 all interchange, but for best intrest, I would get as close to the same year as you can.

Yes, the TB adds a hell of a lot of get up and go! The missmatch you are talking about on the port of the TB and that of the manifold is non-existant if I remember correctly. If there is a missmatch, I havent seen any negative affects from it at all! It is the best mod i have done yet.
