Bernd,
Since about day one on my '01 sport, i thought that my 3.9 was kinda noisy. While idling and low revs it ticks/taps, do you think that this is the injectors, lifters or what? I don't think that the noise is coming from the purge solenoid but it sounds very similar. I use mobil 1synthetic.Are the 19Lbs. FMS injectors quieter?
Thanks

Yes, the noise you are hearing are your injectors. Dodge makes probably the loudest injectors in the world. You can still hear the FMS injectors, but they are much quieter. At least from what I've noticed they are.

You might want to do some searching on that, I've read someware that 2000 and up already have 21 Lb injectors. Are your factory ones RED = 21# ?

Dan,
Yes I do have the factory Red injectors, are you saying that these are 21 pound injectors?? If I did put FMS 19lbs. injectors on to quiet it down, would this hurt my performance? Also would it be wise to put these injectors on considering my only performance mod is a cold air intake? Thanks guys.

I had some confusion on this point myself a while back. I've got a 2002 V6, and it also has the red injectors. According to Bernd, I believe...I finally deduced that, unless you have some serious mods, the new 21# injectors will work just fine. I still wonder if the 24# would be a better match, or even the 19# FMS Design III parts, since they are a 4 nozzle design, and might be more efficient than the single nozzle, even at 21#...??

Don't go with the 24#ers I did and I get a MIL all the time being to rich. I know of others with the same problem. It maybe ok with the earlier types but the design III at 24psi is too much. I would suggest the FMS injectors for the calibration factors. Better mph and smooth power.

Thanks, EyeTrip, that's the info on the 24# that I was looking for. Are you saying that the 19# Design III would be a good replacement for the stock 21#, or just leave the 21# alone and don't mess with them?

My thoughts are to do some research. you will learn alot. The only thing that I know for sure is the 24#ers are too much with the designIII.

I think you should look at the 21# FMS.
And yes they tick too.

Glad to see other people pay attention and have my back. Didn't think about your truck being an '01. Sorry about that. Unless you're going nuts with a butt ton of mods, I'd just keep with the stock 21#ers for now. If you're serious about changing them in the future, you'll have to do a whole lot of top end work before needing to change them. If you don't, like EyeTrip said, you'll get a MIL code.

So can you throw in the larger injectors after you've opened up the airflow or will you still need to flash the computer to work right with them??

Well Mopardude & Eyetrip, from your sugestions i guess i'll keep the stock injectors in considering my only perfromance mod so far is a cold air intake. I guess if i ever get off my cheap but and dip into my SnapOn tool fund, i'll buy a Gibson aluminum sigle outlet sideswept exhaust in oder to drone out my tappy injectors, but i'm gunna be mad when that $300 exaust get's "leveled" when i scrape it backing into a parking space, because the bottom of my exhaust tip is flat from backing into parking spaces. Funny i've only had this problem after droping my truck about 7inches in the rear with a JDM 3/5"lowering kit and a set of 245/50/Z16 RSA's off my buddy's '02 Z28Camaro
