Why would anyone by a V6 truck? That defeats the whole purpose of getting a truck. I'm sorry but Dodge offered a lame v6 engine for such a sic truck. Even a s-10 v6 is better than a v6 dak.

In 2000 9 out of 10 S-10s were 4cyl and that motor really blows I used to have one. as for there V6 thats there top end motor for there truck I would hope it would out run mine seeing the truck is smaller and lighter and the motor pushes 180 to 190 HP. But im not worried becuase that cant take me any more!!!

No v8s at the dealer and I wanted a smaller engine this time around for cost reasons. The v6s are great trucks, have you even driven one? Oh and I don't fit in S10s... too small, maybe they're made for women?

I was not aware of this feature on the V6's. I would probably always have a smile on my face while driving if I knew this earlier.
So what do I look for? Is there a special attachment I need to order?

man my friend got one and its kinda nice...smaller than mine..slower than mine...lighter than mine....lil uglier than mine...lil tin cannier than mine...lil softer sounding than mine...and just all around lil. Its perfect though..perfect my friend beings that he reaches just over 5 foot 2 and weighs 110 pounds soaking wet. Id say its for a woman ..unless you weigh 110 pounds. Even the EXTREME SUCKS UP TO A DAK!

It does? How do you figure? I use my truck for work and it seems to haul a full bed of anything from compost, mulch, lumber, firewood, etc with no problems. I can still drive 75+ on the thruway with a full load. Maybe your Ford V6 is different but mines fine. It does what's needed to be done. That sucks how?

Lame engine? If you are trying to race it stock then yeah but I don't think that was their idea in designing it. Want to race, get a sports car or modify the he!! out of the V6. Seems like that's been done with some decent track times. It sucks going up a hill in 5th but that's what downshifting is for. All I can say is that I haul the same sh!+ most full size trucks with V8s haul and get it home just fine. If it gets the job done, what more do you want? S-10 is better? Depends on your criteria. Are you talking about strictly speed? Are you buying your truck to race? I could also argue that the S-10 sucks in that it has no rear seats in a Club Cab configuration (jump seats, LOL, WTF is that all about?), the size of the bed is small, it can't haul what a Dak can, etc. Get my point?

I don't know why I am going to reply to this ball licker but I am. First off I have a 2002 Dak V6 and the thing runs great. It has enough room in the cab for me unlike the chevy's I looked at the s10 extreme and the Blazer extreme. I did not fit in either of the damn things. As for speed. If I wanted speed I would not have bought an s-10 or a V8 dakota or even an R/T (which i could have the dealer had all three). My whole point is that the v6 can do everything I ask of it. the V8 might be quicker and might tow/carry a little bit more. With out doing a decent amout of mods to an r/t the thing runs about 14.9-15 in the quarter. very close to a v6 camaro. (weight issue) Before i ramble on more my point is the Dakota is a well built truck, I fit into comfortably (issue for us who spend just as much time in the weight room as we do workin/moddin our trucks.) tough enough to get me eveywhere i need to go and tough enough to back up over your stupid ass for postin such an as$hole remark.
On behalf of all the V6 owners out there who read your post and laughed at your uneducated dumbass...Eat Sh!t

I got rid of an s10 for the v6 Dak because that is what I wanted. You most not have had an s10. The Dak I have has better power, better on gas, more comfortable. Even with all the shortcommings you find here. The worst day in a Dak is better than the best day in an s10.

You guys must not think too much of women if insinuating that a truck was built for one is considered an insult. There's a genI dak in my town, formerly a V6, with a big block motor in it that could whomp ALL of your åsses... and it's owned by a woman.

I forgot to mention that in the book I wrote a few posts north. I really love women by the way, does this guy really think that vehicle manufactures would eliminate 50% of the population/paying coustomers (men) when making an automobile that not good business. I must say some cars may seem that they are marketed towards men or women. I will say that i am sorry for this guy for the simple reason that i have read many of your posts and you seem to be a helpful kind person unlike idiots that post crap like the one that got everyone started. look forward to reading more of your (well thought and factual) posts.

Did I miss something? Who insulted women truck buyers? I personally like seeing women who are into cars/trucks in general. Just a short time ago, after work, I walked out to the parking lot and next to my Dak was a Ram1500. On the driver's door right under the window was lettering that said "Hers, Not His". I thought that was pretty cool. I got into my truck and was about to pull away when this georgeous babe walks in front. Then I notice she stops at the Ram parked next to me. It was her truck! We trade smiles and I was on my way. Too bad I'm married ;-)

Sorry guys, maybe I over-reacted, but this is the third post this week where someone has either called a guy a "woman" or drives like a woman, or has a woman's truck. Not to mention the bottom feeder who called me a lesbian.
Oh yeah, the truck is a genII, not genI. It's a white convertible with a 440 in it. Gorgeous.

First, Hello all I'm new here.
Now, A S-10 a real truck?? What a joke!! The only thing thay are good for are yuppys you need to go to the dump. I've been a Tech for 8 years (Air Force for 6 so far)and experince tells me S-10's are nothing more than a car with a bed!
I drive about 120 miles a day, and with a few mods I can get the same horse as a V8 but get better hiway milage.
Lastly I own a 2001 RC. I have a 12" Sub behind the passenger seat and my 6 ft 300 lb cousin still fits! Do that in a S-10!
Oh, Lesley there is nothing hotter than a female Gear head.
