hi everyone just installed the moog upper joints on my 2000 quad cab 3.9l 4x2.these are for a 1999 dakota.dealer parts guy told me you had to buy upper and lower control arms they come with new ball joints, only way they sell them.i looked at the 2002 dakotas on the lot the ball joints look alike except for the 4x4's. i found out about the t.s.b. #02-006-00 which says the tech can now replace the upper control arm bushings (#52037673)we dont have to buy new control arms.so i replaced the old upper ball joints with the moogs (#k7242)from www.rockauto.com. will be replacing the lower ball joints soon. hope this helps everyone.

Did you have to modify anything to get the Moog's to work? It has been brought up that Moog only lists ball joints up to '99, but no one knows of any changes in the 2wd suspension.

Please let us know if you run into any problems with the lower ball joints.

Thanks for taking time to post as I'm sure it will make a lot of 2000 owners happy :-)

hi everyone thanks for the post chuck. have now installed the lower moogs on 2000 q.c. 4x2. the the upper and lowers ball joints fit fine. the only mod. i did was install ( bigger )3/8 grade 8 bolts with lock washers on the nut side of the uppers. also had to ream out the holes a litte with a drill bit on the ball joint.you may have to ream out a little on the control arm also can't remember,no big deal 'cause your only cleaning up the holes a little. the only reason i did this was that i did not like the small bolts that were supplied with the uppers. the lowers are supplied with big bolts. i also got a closer look at a q.c. 4x4 and the uppers look the same as mine but the lowers are pressed in. hope this helps every one.if anyone needs more info e-mail me at dcumps@msn.com i will send you my phone # i talk faster than i type. also i have changed all lube fluids to almsoil. i'am using the series 2000 0w-30 engine oil with the remote bypass filter system.
