Subject: texas heat and which TB?

what's up yall

I have a 97 SLT V6. I have reoccuring problem with my truck during the Texas Heat. When I start running my A/C my engine seems to make more noise (not right away but especially if I am idling)than when I don't run it at all. I changed my thermostat to a 180 so when it does make a lot of noise my temp goes up to 195. I can only take so much of this heat so I can't run without my A/C all the time.

I also would like if anyone could advise me on my next mod.

I really want to do the TB conversion, however should I wait to get headers or do the TB first?

If I don't do the headers then I can only convert to Factory V8 Throttle Body

If I do get the headers then I could go for the Fastman Modified V8 Throttle Body or the
Flometrics 50mm Billet Throttle Body (which is better for me?)

Also which headers are the best?

Thanks in advance

John

97 SLT V6
180 Thermostat, Intense In-take, Flowmaster
3923's, I know this not much but it's a start

Well first of all save you some money and get you a stock V8 tb and get a s-bolt, Those expensive ones that are moded for a v8, i herd only work well when they have superchargers or turbos or nos, if you plan on running any of those then yeah get a nice tb but if your not just get a stock v8 on and you can still afford the headers also. And if it is getting hot to 195, thats fine, just as long as it dont go to the red if you know what i mean, I also am in that tx heat.

And what a HEAT it is, I just heard that the dakotas are suppose to sound loud in the texas heat (heat in general) something to do with the fan. They said not to worry about it that it's normal, but I could do without the loss power.

thanks for the help. any recommendations on the type of headers?

John

I would go with JBA headers,
As far as the heat goes, dose your fan constantly stay on, like is it roaring 24/7, if it is that aint right, your truck being a 97, the fan clutch might be bad, that sure dose rob alot of power.

Naw just in the heat and with the A/C on (it doesn't start off as soon as start A/C either)...outside temp needs to be around mid-day and 95 degrees/higher. During like mid to high 80's it doesn't make that loud noise even with A/C going for awhile.
