Subject: Thermostatic Fan Clutch Replacement
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a '91 3.9L 5-speed. A clicking noise in the engine has been isolated to the fan clutch. The clutch has a bit of looseness which may be contributing some vibration to the truck as well.

At this time I believe I need to replace the thermostatic clutch to eliminate the vibration which could take out the water pump which I do not want to replace again. A heavy duty thermostatic fan clutch will cost approx. $100 (part only). Has anyone replaced their fan clutch with a flex fan and spacer? Noise? Sizing?

Or would you stick with the fan clutch?

Thanks, folks!
