 Subject: Checking Internal Engine Codes

I am always reading on the board how people check their internal engine codes. I was wondering how they do that? Do you have to get an external computer to hook up to the pcm?? Just wondering.
Also, is there any way to plug right into the computer and change settings that way? It could be risky but kinda fun and entertaining :-)

It depends on the year...some you can check with the Key or Trip-Meter button, others you can't.
There's no way available (without spending a pot-load of money) to just plug in and change the PCM tuning via the diagnostic port. Granted, the DRB-III can "flash" a set program...but it has no way of changing specifics.

Turn the key to the on position, then off, then on , and off and finally to the on position. The error code should pop up in your odometer.

go to someone with a snapon scanner like the dealer 75 for the diagnostic then go from there dont depend on this forum

check your ignition wire and plug #1 misfire P0301 detected and P0432 your converter is below threshold right bank your misfiring in #1 might cause these 2 codes to fault

| how do i turn off a code?

i just bought a locking gas cap, to days it was fine, today aftre starting i get an alert in my odometr saying "gascap" i took the cap off and put it back on but alert is still there, how can i turn this alert off?
