Subject: Higher Idle?

Message:
I swapped out my V6 TB with a V8 TB a little while ago and I've noticed that the idle is a little hire. When I had the V6 TB on, it idled around 600 rpms. Now, with the V8 TB installed, it idles anywhere from 750-1000rpms. Is this normal? Is there a way to get the rpm back to around 600? (I always thought it sounded better parked and at stoplights.) =)

Everything appears to be hooked up right. I think I'm going to disconnect and reconnect everything to see if that helps. I want that low rumble when it idles back! On the bright side, I'm still getting 2.1 mpg better mileage with the V8 TB and my other mods.

computer needs some time to compensate I'm guessin with the more air comin' in all of a sudden... My idle actually seems lower now than it was b4. Idles just like my friends R/T. Kinda nice. MSD that I just put in might have something to do with it as well.

MightyDakSXT,

Did you reset your PCM after you installed the tb?

That is a major change to the engine and if you did reset the PCM you need to remember that it will take atleast 200 miles to re-learn (reset) itself.

Yes, the PCM was reset and I've put over 600 miles on it since I installed the V8 TB. I'm quite familiar with my engine and the processes necessary to make modifications, but I'm stumped. I'm going to try a few things this weekend just for giggles.

Since it's not too incredibly difficult, you might try reinstalling your old TB and see if that cures the problem...at least then you'd know for sure it was the V8 TB. Also, have you modified and/or changed the TPS position? I'm just guessing...
