Hello, I was at the Truck Nationals the other week and a guy was there selling exhaust systems for 150 bucks. A muffler, 3" duel pipes, and a 2.5" to 3" adapter. Not a bad deal i thought. But anyways. I was going to get the 50 series flowmaster. BUT then saw the Vortex muffler. It looked very nice. It is welding on every edge you can think of and has some nice weight to it. It looked to be a realy nice and well made muffler. Has anyone heard one thou? The guy told me he likes the Vortex better than the flowmasters, and i know hes not just trying to sell me it cause its only 140 for the system.
Can i please have someones input on this. I thnk 140 or 150 is a GREAT deal for everything your gettting with the cat back system.

Rooknute, I have put a Vortex system on every vehicle I have. I put one on my V6 Dak right after I bought it. They are made by Cherry Bomb and are outstanding quality. I think the sound is awesome, a GREAT tone. It seems like the sound got even better after about 1k miles. Has a nice deep sound, and after adjusting the TPS, I get a SWEET rap when I let off the throttle. I haven't noticed the drone that I've read others complain about with other systems. Definately turns some heads. The dual pipes are a little tough to run, get plenty of different universal hangers.
Regardless of the price, I think it is the best thing out there, but $140 is outstanding, just make sure the pipes are good quality. I used Maremont, mandrel bent pipes.
Can't say enough about how pleased I am with system.

ALRIGHT! THATS WHAT I WANT TO HEAR :) Thats almost the exact same thing the guy at the show told me.... hey! wait a min.... is your name bob?? :) j/k He also complememted the muffler of the nice deep tone, and thats what i want. I HATE rice, i dont want to be sounding like one. :) Thanks for the pointers on the hangers. He said enuff comes with the system, but i'll definitly make sure its tight and secure.
Do you know where i could get a good price on crome or stainless steel exhause tips? I would imagin that the exhause goes straight out the back. I acually didnt ask that. shoot!

No, I'm not Bob, but you did finally meet a salesman that told you the truth (no offense). Actually, my dad owns an auto parts store and I got the system from him. There are actually 3 different exit configurations; both behind the passenger rear tire, one behind each rear tire, and straight out the back spaced wide. I went with both out the back and trimmed the length to be even with the bumper. Looks AWESOME! As far as tips, you can get them damn near anywhere, just make sure you get long ones because there is a good bit of exposed pipe visible from the side (about 18-24").
I say get an assortment of universal hangers because you are adding the driver side pipe, you can always return what you don't use. I double clamped everything and used about 12.
They actually do make the same muffler with a 2 1/2" inlet and 3" outlets, I used the adapter because I gave dad the wrong info.
Oh yeah, I have a Vortex on my 97 Firebird that has been there about 4 years and not a spot of rust!
Lemme know if you have any other questions or how it all turns out. I will try to take photos this weekend if you would like to see how it looks.

It all sounds good, But i've made my decision. The guy that has them only comes to PA for the Carsile Car shows. So i have to wait till the 26th to get the system. Thats the Summer Show, hes coming this weekend to the Mopar show, but i cant get 140 by then.
The pics would still be cool to see thou. :) I saw these tips at the local exhaust shop and they were like 2 feet long. They looked really nice as well. And they were stainless steel. He sais he will get them for me for 18 or 22 a peice. I said what the heck, order them. :) Thanks for your help. I'll let you know what happens as i get the system. :) thanks

on at 5k so the engine hadnt really broke in
yet.

I don't think the performance is extremely noticeable. I think this is true of all of the systems though. I plan on adding a forced air intake soon, and I think the combination of the two will be noticeable.
But the sound is really the advantage here.

i have a cherry bomb on mine its ungodly loud and i love it my parents say they can here from our main road wich is a half mile away and thats with all the windows closed in the house... it has an awsome sound... ive had mixed remarks but for the most part good the only thing is with is getting it on i haad to have some custom stuff done cause the cherry bomb is longer thatn the stock and the rear end kept coming up and knocking it off but i say if your on a budget( only cost me 60 bucks for everything including having it put on right) and looking a really loud truck with a great sound go for the cherry bomb

Hey guys!
Sorry its been awhile since i'v wrote anything about the system. I'll try to answer everyones questons. But first of all, its been a while now, and i have the system all hooked up and its been on the truck now for about 3-4 months. And i LOVE IT! As for performance, it helped, call me crazy, but before i used to always complain about how fast our dakotas get up to 90-100MPH but after that they take awhile to get to the "turn-off" speed (115 or so) Well not anymore, the only time i cant turn my $x4 dakota off is going up hills. Its been great. It has givin my the top end speeds and power that i've been looking for. And plus its great to go threw parking lots and setting off car alarms. lol But thats just a bonus of the system. I really like the low tone it has and the pop once in a while when you leave off the gas. :) But then again, i was raised around the dirt tracks of PA so i'm used to those sounds.

Ohh and there is markings on the Vortex muf. Is just says vortex on the one side of the muf. Other than that its a HEAVY DUTY made muf that will outlast any pipe you put on it!!
Well I hope this helps you guys out. Overall I love the system, and for 140 bucks and some skin off my knuckles, its a great system!!

I have the Vortex exhaust on my truck. I used to have a flowmaster exhaust and didn't really like it at all. Don't get me wrong its not a bad system. In my opinion the vortex makes the V6 sound a lot better. It gave mine a deeper tone, probably as deep as a 6 can go. It was very inexpensive too. I've had people with flowmasters tell me they like the way my vortex exhaust sounds over theres. I had mine installed in tucson arizona about 2 years ago. I also have the headers & high flow cat to round out the exhaust.

all you are faggo*ts b/c u own v6s. if u wanted a nice sounding exhaust, u should have bought a v8 u retards. also, anything that says cherry bomb on it is gay as hell. vortex is total rice and belongs on a honda. why dont u spend the 350+ on a real mans exhaust.

i have the same exhaust system and when i had it installed, the guys doing it said that they would rather buy this one than the flowmaster exhuast, but it must be me, but it doesn't seem as loud as it should be.

Look man, I was just trying to let people know that the best sound a 6 can get will be with this system. I didnt say anything about it sounding like the 360's, i didnt say anything about it sounding anything close to a 8. Sin City R/T Do you have nothing better to do then talk out of your @ss. Just because you have an exhaust that costs 350 plus doesn't mean its any better then one that costs 150. I've seen some pretty F-ed up exhausts that people paid over 400 for and then see them spend less then 200 and have a much better exhaust. I bet your the type of guy who will see a $200 throttle body and see a $500 and buy the 500 one because your dumb @ss thinks since it costs more it must be better.
