Stupid freaking Meineke store 551! I had them do the new exhaust on my Dakota, told Brian I wanted a Flowmaster 50 series. He told me he didn't have one and couldn't get one easy, but a Flowmaster 40 with dual out was in stock and could easily be attached. I told him I was worried about it being too loud and 'buzzy'.

He insisted it would be fine, said it made his 3.0L Ranger sound great. It was raining, or else he'd let me hear it (And boy, was it -raining-). So I let them go ahead and do it, made an appointment to come in the next morning at 9pm.

I got there and they set to work, Brian had the day off. Looks pretty, dual out the back... ohhh. Nice. Looked ok underneath too, nice bends and the like. Better look nice after 6 hours of installation. Sounded good outside at idle, loud as heck inside and buzzy at highway speeds. Of course, I didn't know this until I drove it. I thought I might get used to it...

Drove it to school, got pulled over but no ticket, just told to get it changed. So I went back to Meineke the next day and talked to Brian, told him my problem and he said they'd get me a Flowmaster 50, no problem. This was June 26th.

June 27th, no Muffler.

June 28th, no Muffler, told June 29th.

June 29th. Guess what? No muffler. Told next week.

Next week? Out of town. Went to Michigan with a buzzy exhaust. Ugh. An exhaust hanger broke in ohio, cost me $5 to get fixed at Muffler Man in Clio Michigan. Those guys rule.

Got back home (Florida) on July 8th, which was a Sunday.

Called Meineke store 551 today, the 9th. Guess what? NO FREAKING MUFFLER! In fact, they had to call Brian just to find out what was going on. I don't think they ever ordered it, the guy told me that he would get one in by the 11th... right... and it'll probally take 5 hours to install too. And the hanger will break after two days.

Needless to say I've filed a complaint with Meineke Corporate... just wanted to warn anyone out there and vent a bit. If your in Orlando Florida, do -NOT- go to the Meineke store at 6200 East Colonial Drive! Another guy was in there when I had my exhaust done, he was there for 6 hours for a water pump and belt tensioner! Oddly enough, they didn't find out the tensioner was bad until the last 30 minutes... Seems to me the fact that the guy supposedly just pulled the belt off without loosening it would give -that- away.

Pluralize them. :0)

Actually they were cheaper than everyone else I called, thats why I went there. But had I known, I would have paid the extra $100 to have it done somewhere else...

Well, the power band seems to have smoothed out a bit, it builds better now instead of suddenly hitting it's stride at 3250. I -think- the power band moved down a bit, because there is a definate pull in 5th gear above 2250 RPM now. I did loose some low end torque, but not much, not as much as I thought I would. I just can't chirp the tires going into third anymore. :0) Overall it pulls better above 2250 or so.

It's running 2.5" to the muffler, then dual 2.5" out the back to what look like 2.75" chrome tips.

First, 6 hours to install a cat back exhuast! thats PATHETIC!! When I was hangin exhaust about 4 years back it took me and a and another guy at work not more then an HOUR.. And even worse they could not get one of the most commen flows for trucks there is at there shop in less then a day..
For all fellow dak owners if you are going to get your ex done anytime soon, if a shop tells you that it will take more then two hours, depending on how busy they are, go somewhere else. As for the flows if you have any doughts if they will have the flow of your choice, get it from JEGS. Espacialy the truck mufs, they stock a sh--load of those muffs. One more thing, if you want noise go with a 40 ser, med noise 50 ser, slight burble, 50 ser delta flow..

Howcome it took so long to put on the exhaust. I got Meineke to put my MBRP cat back on and it only took them 45 minutes.

I can't complain about em around here atleast. but I know how you must feel. I'd be sticking it to them as well!

I don't know why it took so long... I was told "No More than an hour and a half", but by the time that had came and gone, it was too late to back out. They cut that old one out in a jiffy, I tell you...

Yeah, I should have ordered from Jegs, but I was kind of pressed for time. I was going on vacation at the end of the week, and the stock muffler was shot to hell. I wanted an exhaust on there during the trip. I never expected it to be -louder- than the muffler that had all it's rear welds blown...

The man said to call back tomarrow... soooo... after class tomarrow I'm just gonna drop by their shop. It's -sort of- on the way home. If it's not in, well, I sure hope whatever customers are around want an earfull! Because this is getting rediculious...

I did get a message from Meineke Corporate today, they apologized and said they were going to contact the store owner. Hopefully we can get something going on here...

Catback for free?

Eh. Maybe. That'd be nice, but I'm not going to push for it. I just want them to -fix- it and to do it correctly. I don't need the thing breaking on me again!

I have been fighting with Midas since november!!!!! got a oil lube and filter change and tire rotation while my truck was on a warranty I got with it (used truck).
First of all they never lubed anything everything was dry
Second They never put the oil cap back on
Third when they rotated the tires they didn't tighten one of the wheels and it just about fell off . The bolt holes on the rim were all illongated from the steel lugs hittin the aluminum rim.
I took the rim off and put on my spare .
They say they are not responsible for the rim cause I fixed it (put the spare on so I could drive it)
I have been lied to several times phone calls not returned the works Calls to head office do nothing
I've been calling at least once a week with no results I have had just about enough of them. I fell like takin a 20 pound sledge to the owners 02 vette !!!!!!

Yeah, I feel your pain dakdar. I'm about to that point too. They are now refusing to install the Flowmaster 50, and are -insisting- that a 50 series is -louder- than a 40 series. Heh.

Today they offered to install two baffles on it, one one each pipe behind the muffler, for a paltry $120 after labor. I told them to stick their baffles somewhere unpleasent and explained how I would rather spend my $120 getting the muffler replaced somewhere where they are actually going to do the job correctly. I then marched out and went home, leaving the poor guy behind the counter looking quite shocked.

I think I'll live with the 40 for a while, maybe until I graduate and get a job, at which point the idea is to rebuild anyway...

I just had a 40 series put on my S-10 Blazer 4X4 4.3 and there is little to no differance in the sound nor can I see any flowmaster stamp anywhere on the muffler.I think I may have been ripped off with a knockoff and I want to report them and get the real deal.
