It's not necessary unless you get a MIL
Some of the guy's switching to Autolites and other plugs have had theirs come on after 50-100 miles

I put the AutoLites in when I installed my RR's but after 500+ miles of putting up with a stumble off idle, I put the champions back in and that cured the problem. I don't know if it was because I have stock ignition or the heat range was to cold.
PS I didn't get any MIL or codes with them.

Yea I tried that but mine was already at .73 volt I tried to up it to .76 but the truck didn't run right so I had to put it back.
I'm running great right now, thinking about relocating my IAT into my K&N tube.
