Good evening
I've been reading this forum for about a month,

(since i bought my first Dakota (00 CC V-6 Auto))
I think i've found a very useful websight for TB's and other items of interest.
Car-Part.Com
I found a V-8 TB through them for $46.00 + $10.00 S/H. Put it in today, it was in very good shape with all sensors shipped with it as well. I received mine from SpaldingAuto.Com
Hope you find this sight useful as well
Gary

Are you guy's talking about putting a V8 Tb on a V6 3.9 ltr.? If so, how hard is it to do? I have a '98 Dak. w/3.9 ltr. and really would like to try.

I did mine in about an hour, pulled the sensors off that came with the new one (since it came from a salvage yard)
hardest part was putting in the new throttle cable (V-6 & V-8 TB's have different style attachments)
here's a good thread that went indepth on this subject

Is there a particular one to get? I mean, one from a 5.2 or a 5.9? And do the gaskets match? Thanks.

From what i've read here, you should aim for a 97 or later (newer) dakota or durango
V-8 TB (the one i found was from a 99 Durango) i reused my V-6's gasket (still in great shape) it was sized perfectly for the V-8 TB

I put a RT TB on my 3.9 and it fit perfectly... the v8 cable change was a pain though.

I put a TB off a R/T on my 6er and it really pepped it up. Took a good hour to do. Get new Throttle Body gasket and the V8 Throttle Cable from dealer or Speedtweaks.net.

If you have a 97 or newer V6, get a 97 or newer V8 TB. the 318 and the 360 use the same size Throttle Body. i think it's 48mm.

It was very easy to install the throttle cable,
once you are able to wrestle the old one out of the firewall. it has a clip which you have to pinch in(Interoir side) then you just push it through from the interior side (I pushed with the handle end of my hammer)The gas pedal has a small clip as well.
I looked closely at the new cable, this gave me a very good idea of how to tackle the removal of the old V-6 cable
Good Luck
Gary
