I usually dont drive over 85, but i spent some time between 90 - 95 on the interstate today. I know its not safe, sorry. I was in atlanta traffic. I noticed a subtle surging on ~4 second intervals in my engine. It was slight enough to only cause a sub-1MPH speed increase, but it was there. I drive a 2002 3.9 5 speed ext. cab with 14,000 miles and no modifications. Anyone else seen / heard of this?

ur talking about every 4sec. in only increases 1 mph? mine does that but not till im at around 115 which is when it starts to slow down alot but will keep going....95 seems a lil slow for it to do that....but what r u doing going that fast? lol

Nate..you weren't on the 485 by chance were you?
I lived in Georgia for awhile ...if you aren't doing 80-90 on the 485, people are going to run over you. You have to drive that fast or you are a gonner.

hey nate
I was just on a trip like that. went to the white mountians with the boy scouts. I had about 1,500lbs of camping gear in the bed and I was travling at least 70 mph at all times.
I noticed that the 3.9 has ALOT of trouble with weight and high speed. I would have the gas down to the floor and it took soooo long to get up some hills...
We pretty much have the same truck. Check it out.

I don't get that high, but I get a surge that jumps about 200 rpms. I can't quite tell if it's the engine, computer or trans. Ya guy's got any ideas?
