Alright.......

(this all happend right fter installing clear corners)

I just took a trip of 275 miles withing two days.
On the way up there i noticed my brake light and ABS light were lit up in my dash. Checked the brake fluid and it was a tad low, got some fluid toped it off and the lights didn't go off.

On the way home today from my trip, the speedo gauge will not read the mph till i get over 25mph.
And my left turn signal blinks about 4 times faster then normal.

It was heavy rain all the way home (137 miles) and it seemed like my truck was wanting to stall out or shut off. I did however remove the little plastic flap by the raditor, and i am wondering if i was constantly sucking up some water into my K & N homebrewed intake.

Does any one have a clue to what may be going on here? I think the turn signal flashes are from a bulb i didn't put in all the way or the wrong way, other then that i am about lost.

I have got the same problem in my 99 R/T. I haven't been able to figure it out but I think it might be the speed sensor in the rear end. Not sure though. If you figure it out or if anyone else can help, please e-mail me at go_n_low@msn.com.

The Brake light, ABS light, and speedo problem are probably all related to the same thing. The truck wanting to stall could be related to. The speed sensor is a good place to start, i would get a Dodge repair manual and figure out how to test it.

As far as the fast blink that is just a bad ground in one of the turn signal sockets.

you just got a lot of stuff too wet in that drive.... see if it clears up in a couple of days. You might have gotten a few grounds wet. also check your fuse box in the truck and the one under the hood for any bad fuses.

Wow, sicminds, sounds like you got a lot of problems! Im going to install my clear corners tomorrow, assuming they are going to be here by tomorrow as promised. Wednesday I am making a 3 hour trip to an amusement park in N. Ohio. I hope i dont have the same problems that you did :-) Of course, it isnt supposed to rain here in Ohio all week, so maybe I'll get lucky :-) hope everything works out for you.

Its the speed sensor, bolted on top of the
differential, that is causing your speedo to
malfunction, the abs and brake light illumination,
and stalling. This is a common problem. Replace
it. Only $30 at Dodge and yes it is only a dealer
item as of yet.

Its not your intake, way mine use to be set up it would get wet, but not enough to make it malfunction. I moved it futher back and I dont get quite the power, but I would rather that, then get the fliter wet every time it rained or sprayed the truck off.

So, your telling me all i have to do is get that
part and it should go away?

How hard is it too switch out that speed sensor?
I have a new haynes repair manual and cant find it in there. Because i would rather pay $30.00 instead of $105.00 to have it put in.

thanks for the help

Replace the speed sensor and reset the computer and if that was the problem you will know right away. They can be tested but unfortunatly i don't know the specs for them, you would have to look at a dealer manual. You would have to ohm it out and compare it to specs. You could also hook it up to a ocsilloscope (you have one in your garage right?) and watch the signal.

its not hard to install sicminds... of course i have a hole in my bed and that makes it easier. Jack up the back of your truck with the wheels dangling off the ground. Look up on top of the diff on the driveshaft side and thats the thing right there. Unplug it and then loosen the nut that holds down some sort of clip (its been awhile), then unbolt that bolt and pull it out.... it takes a good tug to get it out. Installation is in reverse but the new one should come with a new harness and plugs in a little different.

good luck!

your signal is going 100mph due to a bad
ground. try electrical contact cleaner and
grease to remedy.
Your brake fluid was probably fine, the fluid is
low because your pads are wearing...topping
up isnt necessary, now your going to overflow
when you get em replaced.
just a tip

no it still plugs in.... it just provides a new harness that plugs as well. For some reason they changed the newer speed sensors so that the plug is on the opposite side and it comes with a new harness to reach it.

Very funny, you shouldn't Bee poking fun of other people. The guy was asking a legit question, looking for help. You should be encouraging guys like this to fix their own truck, instead of them being ripped off at the dealer. The only way for these guys to learn is to ask questions and try to fix it by them self, and I'll bet next time he will know!

Sic mind does quite a bit of his own work, and he has answered a few of my questions. Strange how one little sensor can do all that?? I agree with superfly, why pay $$ when you can do it yourself?
