Subject: Brake valve?
IP: Logged

Message:
One of my friends had an interesting idea today. We were talking about racing, and he said "why don't you install a valve on the rear brakes?" First I thought, WTF, that is retarded. Then he explained. When I am at the track powerbraking (or just doing it in general ;-) ) I am beating the h3ll out of my rear drum brakes, pads, driveline, etc.... If there was a way I could put a shutoff valve on the rear brakeline, I wouldn't mess things up as bad. Any ideas? Any suggestions, thoughts? Bernd, intense? I haven't given this any engineering thought, but I would like to hear what you guys had to say first.

you are speaking of "line locks". they have been used for years at the drag strips. B & M makes a kit that should fit a dakota.

yes they do but never ever apply the lock on the street, just when you need your rear brakes the most, like when the 3 year old kid runs into the street after his ball. they won't be there for you. Go for it on the track.

You could also get a brake bias valve. That will not only allow you to disable the rear brakes, but you caould also adjust brake bias on the fly if you ever wanted to get into road racing or autocross.
