Well, you should have reset the computer, thats for sure. After that it's going to run funny for 50-100 miles before it relearns and straightens out.

As for irratict idling... did you put a thin coating of oil on the o-rings before installing? If not, you might have air leaks around the injectors, which will lean the mixture out on individual cylinders. The computer will try to calibrate the overall exhaust so it's right, but you'll be running rich in some cylinders, and lean on others.

yeah... what he said!

when i put in my 24# ones i got really bad gas mileage at first. But it got better with time. Now when i say really bad i mean 20 mpg on the highway... i am use to 24 mpg.

OO yea, I also noticed most people do the TB swap first. Should I have waited tell after I swaped TB to do the injectors?

Undoing the battery is easiest, I've heard of people snapping the little plastic retainer clips on the wiring harnesses because they are brittle after being near the engine.

If it still runs odd, pull the injectors and put some oil on the rings. They may be in there tight, but that doesn't mean the ring isn't pinched or something.

Nah, shouldn't matter about the TB. The computer should compensate for everything pretty well.

I reset my computer and it still has the problems. I went to a salvage yard to get parts for my other truck, and found an injector setup for a 97 ford 4.6l, so I looked at it. I bought and installed the wrong kind of injectors :(( So I bought them (correct ones)and plan on installing them saturday. Luckly I havent damaged anything but my pocket book. Live N Learn Huh.

I just bought a set of Ford #19 injectors out of a Ford Mustang from someone on Ebay...they should be here soon....like this weekend.

Anything I should know before I try to put them in? I have never done a fuel injection swap before and I want things to go smoothly...

Thanks.

Mark

Like the one guy said, oil the o-rings putting them in it prob. would have went easier. Relive the fuel pressure first. Its actually an easy swap.

Dale: Make sure you get the correct ones for your model/year. The 2000+ Injectors are 21# (not 19# like the 1999 and older models) so make sure you don't downgrade the injector size.

stick all the new fuel injectors into the rail first and make sure you have the clips on them the right way. Then stick all of the injectors into the manifold at the same time and push firmly onto the rail. Voila! Its quicker this way.

Does anyone know a good place to buy FMS injectors? When is Bernd going to start selling the IAT adjusters again?
