I have ALOT of coolant leaking out the back of the motor and down around the bell housing. I think its a freeze plug. Anyway i can see it without dropping the transmision and i cant drop the transmision without pulling the engine. any one know of where i can find diagrams? or maybe pictures of where these freeze plugs are back there. or maybe some trick as to getting the bell housing out of the way? btw its a 97 w/ 3.9L.

If it's on the back it could be a few things, Leaking Intake Gasket Or Leaking Head Gasket. I don't remember seeing freezeplugs between the engine & tranny. I will be back in the shop 2morrow & will look at the extra engine I have on the stand. Good Luck

Whatever you do, DO NOT use a "Stop Leak" concoction, you will fry your water pump and plug your already too small water jackets.

If it don't work hit it with a hammer, Still don't werk? GET A BIGGER HAMMER!

Most likely coming from the intake, mine was leaking slightly when i bought the truck. It's about a 2 hour job to replace the gasket, depending on how mechanically inclined you are. Btw, why cant you remove your trans without pulling the engine?

That was someone else, I know the trans can be pushed back but that will be alot of work. Im going to check the intake tomorrow. I shouldnt have any problems if thats what it is, it was just a scary thought that the trans had to be removed. Where on the intake do they leak? Thanks Robert

Check your water pump. I recommend pressurizing your cooling system with a pressure tester to find that leak!
