what kind of change in 1/4 mile or 0-60 (or rwhp) can u expect from a V6 to V8 swap, a fastman TB or a flowmetrics TB??? approximations would be fine, i dont need time slips or dynos.

i would say a good reliable 20 hp, by far the best mod ive gotten so far, the tb and headers knocked 1 whole second off my 0-60's, which isnt bad at all, it is definitly something you WILL notice.

LI Blackdak are you still trying to make your 4x4 fast? lol i agree with FlameRed01 it is the best mod i have done also.i know it proably knocked a ¼-½ sec. off my 0-60. i got mine off ebay just a stock v8 tb.....dont know if the fastman or the flowmetrics are any different than the stock.

lol...um well the thing is from what I hear it isnt all that much slower then a 2x4. i mean its just like an extra 400-600 lbs. people say 2x4 0-60 stock is like 10-11...that is what mine is with intake and exhaust so whats the difference? might get a turbo one day and it will be faster then an R/T.

That's the thing, there, skippy. Every 100 lbs of weight is another .10 in the 1/4 mile. So you are slower than a 2wd ClubCab by 1/2 a second. All day long. That's why a Mustang with 215 hp in a 3400lb car will beat our 235 hp Dakotas.... They weigh 4200 lbs. Ouch.

um whats ur point??? a V8 4x4 will smoke a V6 2x4, and they weigh like 4500. so say I'm 4200 and a CC V6 2x4 is 3600(might be more) if that is 1/2 a second that would basically be made up with intake and exhaust. so anyway if u look at what other people here have done, it seems like on 2wd daks intake, exhaust, headers and tb will give u a 0-60 of 8.5-9.5 so it would give me a 0-60 of 9-10 rather then my current 10-11. if i could get my 0-60 in the 8 range i would be somewhat satisfied....anyway..blah blah what is the point. ill get a TB and go from there.

i figure with the stuff above plus MSD ingnition and 1.7 RRs(if i get the balls to install them) would make me near what a V8 4x4 is. and thats all I wanted anyway...a V8 4x4...errrrr

I guess my point is that a half a second in the quarter mile is a huuuuuuuge difference. That's like 2 or 3 car lengths at least. But obviously, if you only deal in one-second increments (and your infamous 0-60 quest), then .5 of a second is not going to make a hill of beans to you.

Out on the track, a race is won/lost by .001 of a second. So, therefore, .500 of a second is a humongous gain that guys will work for months to achieve...... I guess that's my point. If you don't look at an extra 600 lbs of weight as being a big deal, then the added hp of a TB will probably not give you a "substantial change" as you say.......

If he wants to make his 4x4 fast, dont rag on him for it. Some of us *don't* have the option to get a 2x4. If I didnt live in the snowbelt of the northeast, I would've gotten an R/T! But since we get 6 feet of snow (sometimes all at once!), I have to settle with the extra 600 lbs blah, blah, blah.
So, don't rag on him for it! I try and do the same thing!
