I have a 87 dakota 4X4 3.9 liter. I am also having trouble with my blower it comes on and go's off when ever it whants. And where would it be located, I assume under the dash because I can't see it on the firewall. If someone could give me a rply I would be most thankful.

I'd check the switch first. Your motor's not going to switch on unless it sees current and voltage from somewhere, and it's either got to come through the switch, or the switch controls a circuit that provides the current to the motor.

You should check the resistor block located on the firewall passenger side above the heater assembly. Has two small screws to remove it. These go bad with rust and fail. Check EVERYTHING else first as the blower motor is not fun to change.

I have the same problem in a 97 Dak CC V6 5-spd and have replaced the resistor block, but has not improved anything.

What next?????

Did you check for corroded/broken wiring in the resistor connector? That also happens.....
