i have spoken to ya all before about my exhaust not getting louder after replacing the muffler and would like some more help with this subject if you can help. i have also talked to the dodge dealer hear in town and they are not going to replace my cat with the modified exhaust. so if you can tell me what is going to happen if i cut the cat out with out using a kat box? if it is just going to throw the engine light on i might be able to handle that for a while. if it is going to hurt my performance then i will wait until i get a kat box.

What year is your dak..??
i cut the cat off on mine and no check engine light came on.. but its not good.. in my opinion.. just get a high flow cat and it will increase your sound.. dont just go and cut it right off and replace it with a pipe..

Listen to ppl that have made this mistake before..

my truck is a 99 with a v-6 my thought on cutting the cat off was only a temperary solution until i can afford a new cat. i just didnt want to damage my performance enough that it was not drivable being as how it is my daily driver. i guess what im looking for is will it lean out my mixture do to the o2 sensor being behind the cat? or will it make the computer go into a limp mode of sorts?

you shouldnt get a check engine light... but your truck will run a little rough. The downstream O2 sensor gets a bad reading with out the cat. I have never removed my cat but i did run my truck with open headers for a day or so.... which may i add is as loud as anyone may need to be!

2DAMNSLOW: Remeber, it's not how loud you are, it's how fast you are that matters! If you cant see the imports in the rear veiw then you have either just got beat or you left him at the starting line.

Just my 2cnts.
