I was on speedtweaks and found a Fastman V6 TB. Is this what i want to get, or can i get a V8 TB and somehow get a adapter? I'm pretty new to the motor swap game, usually if it isnt made for a v6 i dont get it, but i want to get the best one at this time. PLEASE HELP.

On the speedtweaks site you can purchase a V8 TB for your V6 or the Fastman V6 TB. Either one is a good upgrade. I believe, and anyone please correct me, that the Fastman TB is a modified V6 TB. The stock V8 TB is a 48mm TB which will work well with 3.9L V6s. I think your stock V6 TB is about 42-44mm. Some folks have said that the 48mm TB will kill the lower end. I haven't experienced this. Either way, it's a pretty simple mod. Just take your time. Good luck.

Stick with the V6 Fastman, 48mm Flometrics, or V8 TB conversion kit (stock V8 TB with cable). There's no need to run a 50mm on a V6 unless you're supercharged.
TGhe 48mm won't kill bottom-end at all.

Sweet, so i'll get the ones speedtweaks has for the V6, I wont mess with anything that says V8. Is there any differance between the Flometrics and the Fastman?? The prices are a pretty big differance? Let me know, thanks guys

You'll find Bernd to be the Dak guru around here. Speedtweaks is his company so for almost everything done to a dak, he has tried it or knows of it. I'm sure Bernd can speak more to the intricatices of the F&B and Fastman TBs. In a nut shell, 48mm F&B TB is a Alu Billet TB. Brand new and designed for V6 3.9L. The Fastman V6 TB is modified V6 TB (I think). You can check Fastman's site for the details. You have to pay a core charge and the core charge will be refunded when you send your old TB in.
If you have funds to play with, go with F&B 48mm TB (I did). Middle of the road would be Fastman's TB (about the same performance as F&B, I think). Economy, stock V8 TB w/ throttle cable. (best performance for the bang. I think with the F&B and Fastman, you gain 1-2 hp & 5-9 ft-lbs better than the stock V8 TB mod. Check some of Bernd's old threads. The stock V8 TB is a very good upgrade otherwise Bernd wouldn't offer it.)

NJQCDak, thanks for the reply. I'll have to get on speed tweaks and contact him threw e-mail or something. I dont have alot of cash to play with but i could get some if he thinks the exspencive one is the way to go. Again thanks for the help.

Everything is good. My wife & I are expecting a second. Bad news for the Dak, but I just added carbon tail lights so that may just be it for the dak. Some day I have to post pics on my profile (after I wash & wax the QC). I am looking into a Hurst shifter when they are available for '01s. I got to sneak that one by wife, but I think she will notice (LOL).
How's it going with you? Have you added or upgraded your Dak? Take care.

I just noticed that you traded in the dak for a Ram. Sorry, I must be getting old. Making mods yet. Did you get the new '02 model with 20" wheels??? I read that Dodge is making the 5.7 hemi available.

I still have my Dakota...I was just helping a guy sell headers of of his Dakota that HE traded in for a Ram.
Congrats on your 2nd offspring! I'm headed in the same direction you are (getting married and moving into a new house in 2003).
I actually thought that I wouldn't be able to afford anymore mods, but my fiance and I took another look at our finances. I have an F&B 48mm TB and JBA headers on the way and I'm also thinking about a complete MSD ignition.
