I know you can split it into two directly behind the last Oxygen sensor. But why? Everyone who has done it has reported a -serious- loss of low-end power do to insufficent back pressure. You'd be better off just running a standard Cat-back at 2.5" (I think) to a single-in dual-out flowmaster and then coming out with two pipes out the back. It'll look like duals, and since it's only after the muffler, your back pressure should remain sufficent.

I put on JBA headers, a CarSound Cat, and a Flowmaster "40" (single in-out). I wouldn't call it a "serious" loss of low end power, but suffice it to say, ALL of my power runs from 2200 RPM and up. True duals probably are a little excessive. Not only do you loose back pressure, but you loose pressure consistency between the two manifolds. That's why you see a lot of today's dual exhausts with X pipes and the like.

If you want two pipes, either follow Todd's suggestion (single in - dual out) or split the pipe b/w the cat and the muff and put two muffs on.

My 2 cents.

you can get around the cat problem by buying a "katbox" at www.krcperformance.com but why do you want true duals on your sixer??? just get a cat-back system and get the good sound and gain some performance
