I bought my 2000 4x4 dakota brand new. So far, I have had 2 recalls (that I know of), the starter replaced, the power steering pump replaced, the right front ball joint fixed, and I have 2 rear shocks on order. I am only at 19,000 miles Don't get me wrong. I love my Dakota. I baby her to death. Is this a sign that it wasn't meant fo us to be?

I have a 2000 4x2... no recalls that I know of (purchased and built -after- the computer flash recall, barely a 2000). No problems so far that haven't been minor. Biggest thing it's gone into the shop for was when it started running real reach at 8,000 miles. Ended up being a faulty Oxygen Sensor, which they replaced and the problem went away. After that I had it in for the left front wheel, which had started to come apart (crumble). The service manager walked over and looked at it, said simply 'Whoa. We'll fix that' and ordered a new one. :0)

Hey dont feel Bad..
I have a 2002 Dakota and it been in the shop every other week almost...
First it was the driver side fog light was out...replaced
then the steering was out of whack...fixed
then the passanger side speaker blew...still pending.
Pass side window came off the track....fixed
But engine noise and feel above 4,000 RPM's { its a V6}....pending...
Thats it so far..and I only have 4,600 miles on it.

Oh yeah, my passenger foglight disappeared on me... 0_o
Darned snowbank. Those things aren't cheap to replace!
My passenger side speaker had a nice rip in it, but it wasn't dodge that did it. I replaced all four with Rockford Fosgates, and when they stuck the front passenger side in, they ripped it! Took a month to get it fixed, a month of horrible sounding stereo... ugh... sounds good now though :0)

Oh I did forget to mention my passenger side headlight went out 2 weeks ago. Man that is a tight squeeze
