When I am going up a hill in O/D, not a steep one, just a small hill, the rpms will jump from 1700 to 2100 w/o down shifting. Why?
Another problem, if I take off fast and then let out of the gas a little right before it shifts into second it has a lot of trouble finding second gear. It's almost like the computer is going "where the...damit...is that...no... crap...there it is" Why is that happening and how do I fix it?

when I climb hills I always shut off my 1999 dodge dakota's (3.9 V6) overdrive. I recall the operator's book says to take off the overdrive for hills and for towing. but I notice that if I want to go 70 up a hill I use less throttle without overdrive compared with leaving it in overdrive. I live in Hawaii and I have to climb up and down alot of hills and I am able to get about 19 mpg. 20.0 mpg was my best so far.
