the pvc will not melt under the hood, may get a lil warm but won't melt. get the pipe , the two elbows and the Fernco fitting at Lowes. All for about 20 bucks.

hey kotadude21 if you run pvc under the hood for a home brew intake it will melt. There were several postes on here last augest from guys down south when it got up to 110 or so and the engines were runnin hot with the air conditioner on that had that very problem. Pvc melts at 140 degrees and it easily gets that hot under the hood when it is very hot out. I made mine out of aluminum dryer vent and aluminum roof flashing, it turned out so well that 2 guys I work with had me make it for them as well easiest $300 profit I ever made. The inlet is betwwn the radiator and the radiator support so you not only get cold air you get pressurized air that at high speed and wide open throttle will show you(if you have a manifoldvac/pressure gage) about 1 to 2 lbs of positive maniflod pressure instead of a vacuum.

PVC melts at 140? How can they use it for hot water installations in homes, where hot water is sometimes kept at as high as 160? Glen

I'd say 90% of people who would use them wouldn't have any problems with the heat.
Haven't had any problems down here in sometimes hot SC.
