Subject: High pitch whine

Message:
Hi, I have an 03 v6 5spd, I recently read a
post on here about someone having a high
pitched whine coming from the dash area when at
high speeds but not consistent. It only
pertains to certain speeds where generally the
rpms are at 1200 - 1800. Im having this issue
too. When doing about 90-110kmh (55-70mph) I
found there are two distinct speeds it does it
at and I think its more related to the rpm than
speed. When driving I will get up to speed to
about 70mph and let off the gas, which I will
hear the whine at those two speeds as it
decelerates to about 50mph. However, if I were
to speed up to 70mph and press the clutch in
and let it decelerate, there is no noise. On
the highway, this only happens after I have
been driving for about 20 minutes or so. But
first thing in the morning when I leave it will
make the sound faintly before shifting into 2nd
and sometimes 3rd. The sound is only heard when
moving, but when I was sitting in my driveway I
could almost faintly hear it around the 17,1800
range. Can anyone give me any kind of detailed
diagnosis or maybe some other things to check
for? I have been searching forever trying to
figure it out. I was thinking pulley related at
first, but then I started thinking maybe input
shaft or something related to the tranny? Any
help is greatly appreciated.
