It's your battery.

Reason why you have trouble jumpstarting it sometimes is
because you don't let the other car charge it for a bit.

I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota 3.9 it is doing the same thing, clicks but won't start. I am going to replace the ignition lock and the ignition switch. There is a video on U Tube that brought me to the conclusion this is my truck's problem.

Truck has been maintained immaculately. Transmission is
giving me check engine light occasionally, and occasionally
transmission light. At that point it will go into limp mode.
Typically it does this on extremely hot days. P0700 is code.
I replaced solenoid pack and output sensor. ATF never burned.
Filter always changed. No shinny metal. When I did this last
service I thought I had it corrected but it has returned to its
P0700 and check engine and transmission. When its cool or
just warm it drives great. Could you help me with any
suggestions? Do you think it's the TCM. if you do think it is
where is it located. Thanks Andrew
