I need some help with my 93 Dakota 3.9l 2wd. About a hour
into a road trip I stopped at a rest stop along the way. When I
got back in the truck cranked very slow and barely fired up. I
was very hesitant to stop again, but had to. I returned to truck
and it wouldn't even crank over. I was able to get a jump and
was back on the road only to realize it wouldn't shift into
overdrive. Truck never displayed any problems with shifting
etc. before I jumped it. I'm assuming the battery is shot since
after a jump it ran fine holding around 15-16 volts according to
the voltmeter. The only issues I've ever had previously was the
truck not starting in park every once in a while, but will start in
neutral. All fluids were checked before I left. Any ideas would
be appreciated as I am out of town and have very limited tools.
