I have a 99 Dakota 3.9 liter with just over 200,000 miles on it. The truck was running well however it had a slight ignition miss and would stutter a bit when it was cold. I just performed a full tune up, replacing the rotor, dist. cap, wires, and plugs. I started the truck after the tune up, drove it about 3 miles and it ran great. The vehicle sat for several hours before I started it again and it began to run horribly. I could smell unburnt fuel, it sounded like at least one cylinder was not firing, and the check engine light came on. I let the truck sit for another day, checked all my work (firing order, gaps, boots on tight, etc.) then drove the truck 4 miles with no issues. Once again I started the truck up an hour later and the check engine light came back on and there is a bad miss fire. Does anyone have any thoughts as to the source of the problem?

Fuel injectors, make sure the connections are good, if they
are, then throw a 1/3 of a can of seafoam(like 6$ at oreillys).
And it should run fine. Check your coil too. 200,000 miles,
means a lot of old parts lol

Oh and o2 sensors. Make sure all your connections are good
and vacuum lines. Go get a read code for that code it's
throwing at an auto parts store. Kinda hard to tell with the
symptoms you gave, could be many things. Oh and did you
make sure the distributor rotor is on the correct direction?
