I have a 96 dakota and I want to be able to play my mp3 out of the
radio. The radio works great but I hate the commercials when
listening. I bought a cassete adapter, pushed it in the deck and all it
does is hiss and the radio screen just gives the time and on the
right side corner it says NR and below that it shoes a picture of a
cassete. Same thing happens for every cassete I put in. Any ideas
what the problem is?

Try turning off your Dolby noise reduction on your radio player.

Use the manual that came with or if no manual, research the model # see if instructions are online. It is usually a matter of pushing a button labeled "NR" in/out.

Search YouTube "Use cassette adapter - turning dolby NR off"

Turns out a belt in my cassete player is broke so that explains it.
