 Subject: 95 Dakota direct short to ground

I just traded an old non running, rusted/broken cj5 for a 95 Dakota xcab v6 4X4 auto. it didn't run when I traded, and after researching found the 115 splice problem. Well now it drains batteries instantly and shorts hard when trying to jump. Any "normal" areas to look for this short?
