 Subject: Error Code P0420

Hey Guys,
I have a 98 3.9 v6, 4x4. I am getting the error code P0420 - bad catalytic converter. ever since the check engine light came on, my truck has a hard time idling and the truck is running very sluggish and has no power. I have replaced the converted a couple years ago and I am hoping that it doesnt need replaced already. would a bad sensor cause this? or do you guys think the converter is bad?

Had this happen last month and did a tune up, plugs, cap n rotor and wires. Reset codes and all is good.
