Okay. I'm looking to replace the engine in my 97 Dodge Dakota. One of the cyclinders broke in the engine, and I'm looking to replace it. After searching in scrap yards and junk yards, I found a 1997 Dodge Van engine that is same specs and hooks up to the same transmission. I was just wondering, can the Dodge Van engine hook up the same? Or will I need to replace the oil pan/dip stick or anything else in order to make it fit?

You should be able to use any 3.9 from '96 to '03 no matter what it came out of.

Well if your wallet is fat enough why limit yourself? Just go get
a Pratt & Whitney turbine and shoe horn it in there?

Anything from '92-03 in 3.9L will interchange with slight changes. I put a '00 3.9L 2wd 1500 in my '93 Dakota 4x4, I just had to change intake, exhaust manifolds and distributor, flywheel and motor mounts.
