 Subject: gas smell outside of truck

I have smelt gas around the truck several times and at times i have not. Only after smelling gas again after filling the tank couple days ago. Could this be splashing out from the fill spout? and if so, should there be something in the tank/fill spout to prevent this?

I Have that same problem i figured out i had a rust hole in my filler neck
