I Have a 1994 Dakota Sport, 2wd, automatic. Been keeping
up with all the mod stuff on this forum, and have done the
easy (free) ones. I'm up to 23 mpg on the interstate. My
truck didn't like the CPS mod at all, so I just slid it back. Have
to check mileage again. I think I somehow got too much
advance on the timing. It would stumble along at 2-400 rpm
until it got warm, and then would run like a scalded dog!
Perhaps I have some other issues to sort out.

I have a code 1-2, which Haynes calls a "standby memory
power loss". Of course they offer no corrective action for
that. So I am making a WAG that it has something to do with
the SBEC having a battery to keep memory when the truck
battery is out. If that is the case then my truck begins
learning every time I disconnect the battery.

Any thoughts or knowledge about this would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Anytime you disconnect the battery or battery voltage drops
below a certain threshold, the PCM will lose what it has
learned.

Thanks daddio, for the quick reply. My bad,...I know that,
musta been having a senior moment.

I am still looking for a CEC 1-2 solution.

On the OBD 1 systems, are there any codes that are not
reset by the PCM when you take the battery cable off and
hold the key to start for 20 seconds?

Thanks again,

Swampy

That is where you're getting the code from. Every time you
disconnect the battery, you'll get a 12 code. No way around it.
