Subject: oil pressure gauge and knock 99' Dakota
IP: Logged

Message:
My 99 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6 has a loud knock once
the engine warms up at idle, and the oil pressure
will drop to zero at idle once warm too. As soon
as I hit the gas the knock goes away, and the oil
pressure goes up, and seems to run fine this only
happens at idle. Sometimes I am able to just turn
the steering wheel one direction and hold and the
oil pressure will drop to zero as well.
I changed the sending unit, replaced rod bearings,
checked main bearings they are fine. replaced the
rear man seal and the oil pan seal.

You should have just pulled the crank and had turned .010 on the journals. If the rod bearings were that bad chances are the crank was cored and just ruined your fresh bearings.
